What is Saco Ranch?
Saco Ranch is a proposed community retail center that will incorporate commercial and industrial opportunities. It was approved by the Bakersfield City Council in August 2010 and approvals were renewed in October 2015.
Where is Saco Ranch located?
Saco Ranch is located at the intersection of 7th Standard and Coffee Roads near Highway 99 at the 7th Standard/Merle Haggard Road exit, in Bakersfield, California.
What is the size of the project and when will construction begin?
The project covers approximately 300 acres of upscale retail, office, commercial, warehouse and light-use industrial space. Current construction timelines are under development. More information will be forthcoming soon.
Who is the developer of Saco Ranch?
Bidart Bros., a local Kern County farming business.
How many jobs will the project create for Kern County residents?
We would estimate approximately 2,500 construction jobs with the initial build out of the project.
Will there be any environmental impacts?
The developer has spent millions of dollars to certify and approve an Environmental Impact Report under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) in 2009. Environmental impacts were addressed and the Bakersfield City Council unanimously certified the EIR.
Will the development be built all at once or in phases?
Saco Ranch will be built in three phases. It is anticipated that retail space will be the first phase.
